Question Can someone send a virus on my iPhone?

Just wanted to clear something up for myself.
I found this article: http://mashable.com/2009/07/30/iphone-hack/ when i was searching about how possible it is for someone to send a virus on my iPhone 4 and I was wondering if that is patched?
One more thing, how secure is my iPhone? I mean yea Apple does a lot to keep things safe, but still can someone send a virus in my iPhone to phone tap me?

The article is from 2009, and yes this would have been patched.

I don't think anyone would happen if someone were to send you something generic. I'd imagine that you would need a specific one to make anything happen.
