Is there a way to play the sound from my iPod line out to the iMac's line input?

In system preferences I can see that the sound is coming into the iMac, but it's not being played out the iMacs speakers. I want to listen to my iPod at work but I dont like playing it thru iTunes as it gets rather hot.

This is frustrating, as I know how to do it on a PC in seconds

Okay... I think this should fix it.
By default, your iMac won't play the audio that's coming into the line input out of the speakers, to prevent feedback. We can change this though.

Go into Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup.
Select the Audio tab at top.
At the bottom left half of the screen, select Soure: Line In.
Then, in the white box below it, check the little box below the word "Thru".
This should enable the Line In to pass "thru" the speakers.

Let me know if this works.

Another problem solved by Lee Tom.
(I'm starting to get used to saying this...)

That Audio MIDI Setup app is a little buried in there. It seems like this could be done a little more elegantly by Apple, but hey. It works.
