Disk Repair won't repair!

my ppc g4 has been buggy lately. ran disk doctor and got a message saying that i need to repair the disk but it wouldn't let me. (the "repair disk" button was low-lit) while in disk doctor, i got the message in red that said: "invalid node structure. the volume needs to be repaired. Error: the underlying task reported failure on exit"

so then i tried doing it from my startup disk, but got more of the same:
"invalid file record length volume check failed Error: the underlying task reported failure on exit 1 volume could not be repaired because of an error"

my machine is a ppc g4 (3.3) 1.25Ghz running 10.4.11

any ideas?

Your disk is dying or about to be rendered dead.

Make a backup, and plan to purchase a new hard drive. The Hard drive is on the way south, and won't come back north.
