Im curious if anyone knows what WineServer is? It just popped up on my iMac for a Deny/Allow to accept incoming network connections. I have the OS X firewall turned on so I am guessing its a new connection but I cant find a lot of info on what Wine is (as it relates to unix).

Thank you
John

ok, i think i tracked it down. I recently installed Dragon Age for Mac and from what i can find it would appear Dragon age uses wine for its dlc.

I guess this question should have gone into the games forum section....

Thanks

It's because DA is Cider which is based off Wine which is based on the X11 "architecture": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_Window_System

So to start the game and get the graphics on screen you connect to a server of sorts and will need permissions to start and also to make outgoing connections which is required for DAO to verify DLC etc.
