First off, I'm running a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0 GHz with Leopard 10.5.8. I have had trouble the last couple years getting 1080p playback to be smooth. VLC has failed me and I finally stumbled upon Movist and things seemed to be going great!

However, when I enable the digital audio out setting in Movist to allow for the DTS and Dolby Digital tracks to play in MKV movie files the program crashes when I open the movie. From then on out no sound will work from the computer at all. No iTunes, no Movist, no VLC, nada. I tried going into Activity Monitor and quitting the process "coreaudiod" as it seemed this was the most related sounding process to audio issues. It restarts the process and my receiver clicks on and signals that sound is no coming to it from my computer but still no sound. The only way to get the sound working again is if I restart my computer.

Does anyone know how to remedy this or how to get the sound back without having to restart? Better yet does anyone know how to get Movist to play my MKVs with digital audio to my receiver? For the record it seems it's the 1080p movies that crash, the 720 and all other movies play fine with the sound in Movist, that is until I try to open a 1080p movie and it crashes. Those same 1080p files play fine and with sound as long as I have "detect digital audio out" deselected, but then I just get stereo sound. Any suggestions?
