Mac OS X Tiger at FOSE

One Slashdot reader reports that Apple is exhibiting at FOSE 2005 -- a goverment agency focused technology expo which takes place April 5-7, 2005 in Washington, DC.

Of interest, however, is that Apple is publicly exhibiting Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger at the expo. The build version of Mac OS X 10.4 on display is 8A428 -- the same as the rumored gold master.

April 21

Apple's annual general meeting of shareholders will be held on April 21st in Cupertino. Maybe that's when they'll announce it!

actually i've been seeing a lot of HPs on there lately. I know that the second season had all G5s in CTU... Kind of sad that there isn't anymore

but hey, we all know that holding tab and an arrow key will bring up the information about a hard-drive manufacturer (last episode they did that... ep.4, 10-11pm sigh...)

yeah that was pretty sweet, but since CTU was destroyed in the 3rd Series, i think HP has infiltrated the 4th series with a vaste range of minging computer equipment.

We could be waiting for weeks, I dont think I can take much mroe of this checking the forum everyday waiting for tiger. Its driving me crazy.

I'm waiting to get a G4 Powerbook 17inch, its been ordered and paid for, but I requested that it not be shipped til Tiger comes with it. My supplier said that it would be sometime in April. I hope his right. It is very tempting just to forget about tiger and get it shipped now.

Are we sure they're real people? With crazy names such as "Bud Tribble" and "Simon Patience" the jokes on them.

And look at Ted Goldstein, YIKES!!! hehehe!

Edit - Too many 'lol's. I wasn't at any point laughing out loud (maybe a smirk or quiet chuckle though) so they have been removed.

For real. Where the heck is the 10.3.9 update which was rumored to be finished a couple of weeks ago, but still hasn't shown up in my Updater?

And I'm sick of waiting for 10.4, too. It seems that Apple has had everything wrapped up for at least a week, and they're even showing it publically at expos like the FOSE. What the heck could there possibly be left to do? Just release the darn thing already and address whatever bugs or issues remain in a 10.4.1 update.

Dept of Army has just mandated a 100% migration to Active Directory, which probably functionally does away with our remaining Mac holdouts.

On the working level, we're still trying to figure out their logic for Active Directory. There doesn't appear to be any, given that their other "Security Mandates" have included a recent order to eliminate all USB ports because of easily concealable flash drives --- they then realized that all keyboards/mice are now USB based, so they said "Okay, you can keep 2" and are choosing to look the other way for how trivial it is to unplug a mouse to plug in a flash drive. You can't make this stuff up.

Oh great, now when one gets hit, they can take them all down.

How friggin stooopid are those guys anyway?

Active Directory is Microsoft's trademarked directory service, an integral part of the Windows 2000 architecture. Like other directory services, such as LDAP or NT Domain, Active Directory is a centralized and standardized system that automates network management of user data, security, and distributed resources, and enables inter operation with other directories. Active Directory is designed especially for distributed networking environments. top
