Is their an IR Port on the 2011 MBA to Remote with?

There used to be an IR Port on the older MBAs and it's on most of their other products.

This allows you to use the Apple Remote or iPhone Remote app to control iTunes or presentations.

Does anyone know if it is available on the 2011 MBA?

It's not listed on the tech specs. There wasn't one on last year's models, either.

If true, then that is a small disappointment for those who present on the go or like to remotely control their music.

It won't stop me from buying it, but I'm kind of surprised they omitted such a simple and basic feature.

You could always use the Apple Remote iOS app if you have an iOS device. Not quite as small as the remote, but it works.

They've had a year to get used to it.

iPhone remote app uses WiFi, not IR.

I thought a good location for an IR sensor would be with the FaceTime camera.

The Apple Remote is more useful in some cases than iOS remote apps because you don't have to prevent the device from locking, or look at the screen when using the controls. There are advantages to both, of course.
