Howdy,

Just noticed a feature in Lion that i can't figure out how to disable and need your help!

When you press and hold down a key, it gives you the option of picking an accented character instead of just letting you type, for example 'lolsssssss' without having to release and press 's' again. Call my fingers lazy :)

Anyone have a fix?

→ Open up your terminal
→ Enter the following command (no quotes): "defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false"
→ Restart your computer.

Thank you! but is there a way to do it without using Terminal commands? like an option in System Preferences that i may be missing?

just in case i need to turn it back on, i don't want to be messing around in Terminal again

You can always turn it back on with: "defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool true"
