1"1 MBA and Lion - Runs great

I just loaded Lion last night on my 11" MBA (1.6 Duo 4 Gig mem) and it runs great. No problems in the install (I made a back-up thumb drive disk).

At first the fan doubled in speed, I could hear it and the iStat widget showed a 5400 rpm and a 50-70 degree cpu. After a short time the fan and temp reduced and now it is as quite as ever with the fan at 2000 rpm and the cpu at 45 degrees.

I did a software update and many had updates to go with Lion.
The most buggy software I have, Word, seems to be operating well.

The screen is smooth in all functions and there does not appear to be any slow down of my computer at all.

Basically not bad but the finger gestures are "backward" but shouldn't be any problem getting used to.

Good work Apple!

Before and after drive space

Did you happen to note your drive size before and after the install?

The App Store mentions a 3.49GB install for Lion. I'm wondering if that's +3.49GB to existing Snow Leopard drive space or that a fresh install of Lion will take up 3.49GB. I'm assuming there's a lot of existing files Lion is updating/removing from Snow Leopard.

Thanks

Sorry I didn't check the size of the installed OS.

I have the 121 gig drive and it hardly made a dent.

I have latest MS Office, Firefox, and a number of other programs installed and they only add up to 6.5 gigs (including stock apps). So there is a lot of space left for media stuff.

I came from the Windows 7 life and over all the Mac OS and programs use a lot less memory.

I have an 2010 11" base (1.4, 2Gb). Waited a couple of days, but now installing. Praying for no animation lag as that would drive me insane.

Quick first impressions for base 11" owners pondering an upgrade:

Seems to work great. No noticeable animation lag to speak of atm. Slightly concerned about battery life, but let's see.
