Odd Lion Terminal Problem MBP 2011

Well last night a had one of my server need some tlc, so i opened up Terminal in the hope of connecting and updating / changing some stuff. Apon opening terminal

First thought: damn i need to connect now.
Second thought: Have a go using Cyberduck to send console commands.
So i proceed to open the cyberduck application and find that it doesn't work either! Not giving any errors but simply not working!

From there i restarted my computer (The usual fix), however it still wouldn't worked so i got my phone out and SSHed to the server(The temp fix).
I have turned my computer back on today and it still won't work, I use terminal often to SSH to my servers, so it needs to work for me.

The computer I am having problems with it on is a Macbook Pro 15" 2011 2.2Ghz (Thus being the reason for being in the macbook pro forum)

So anyway I was wondering if anyone was having this issue or could help me with this issue.
I am running Lion (Thus the title)
 
Still trying to find a solution for this, going to investigate it more thoroughly now that I have a little more time.

Hi, I´ve been having the same problems the last couple of days with my 2010 macbook pro. I can´t tell for sure if it happened as a direct result of my upgrading to Lion, or if I somehow messed up my user when trying to correct an alias for my user account in my contacts afterwards. I´m not really well wersed in the Mac world, I´m afraid.

My error reads:
"login(405,0x7fff78012960) malloc: *** error for object 0x10d32b340: pointer being freed was not allocated", otherwise the same as yours

I´ve created a different new admin user but the same problem occurs there when I start terminal. Additionally, I can´t install programs, there is an error about Installer failed, and the log shows "Install´s runner tool is not properly configured as a setuid tool."

Not sure if my information helps any at all, but I would love to get some pointers as to what could be wrong or how I can diagnose further, or learn what you learned from your problem. This seems like a serious but uncommon error, Terminal not starting with a malloc error.

I´m not really well wersed in the Mac world, I´m afraid.

My error reads:
"login(405,0x7fff78012960) malloc: *** error for object 0x10d32b340: pointer being freed was not allocated", otherwise the same as yours

I´ve created a different new admin user but the same problem occurs there when I start terminal. Additionally, I can´t install programs, there is an error about Installer failed, and the log shows "Install´s runner tool is not properly configured as a setuid tool."

Not sure if my information helps any at all, but I would love to get some pointers as to what could be wrong or how I can diagnose further, or learn what you learned from your problem. This seems like a serious but uncommon error, Terminal not starting with a malloc error.

I actually figured this one out yesterday, I noticed that the day I started getting this error I had changed my disk permissions on multiple items. Repairing my disk permissions fixed it for me. Maybe your lion install mucked up your disk permissions.
 
Macsavvytech, thank you very much! My problems were getting worse but your reply made me run a "repair all file permissions" and everything works as it should again. I brought this on my self but I have now learned not to mess around with stuff I don´t know... :)

I actually had this after a fresh install, however it was self inflicted for me too, I had modified my permissions on my Macintosh HD as to allow AJA to run, unfortunately I pressed the button to apply to enclosed items, I thought nothing of it at the time but I believe this was the problem, I thought about having accidently done this and wondered if it was related. It was!
 
Just as I keep trying to tell people... "Repair Permissions" only fixes things when permissions have been mucked with.

True, but permissions can be quite easily stuffed up overtime, however they don't often cause problems.
 
How do i edit my permissions?

You might want to check the date on this thread.... I figured this out about 8 months ago

Thank you sir. This fixed my problem. I had the exact same issues listed above with the [Process Complete] error.
