I think no one had figured it out the problem since day one.
Have you guys ever thought of the DNS issue? It's the IPv6 for me. OS X Lion constantly switching to use IPv6 mode if your router is set to actively enabled IPv6 but your ISP isn't supported yet.
I had to to disable IPv6 and my connection is back to normal once for all again.
The OS X Lion IPv6 has a bug for sure.
If you can't access your router due to public networks. Go inside your preference setting it set to manuel DNS:
ie.
Google DNS: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
OR
OpenDNS: http://www.opendns.com/
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
That's one solution for Wifi issue. Not sure about the LAN connection. This only seem to affect the Wifi only.
