Norton IS the virii.. it wont go away!

A friend was using my iBook and thought it would be nice of them if they installed norton AV 9 on my system... Needless to say i want it off, and whenever i run the uninstall app from their CD a window pops up with "ERROR, UNKNWON_ERROR" over and over in it. Does anyone here know how i can rid myself of norton being in my system, or atleast get it to stop loading in the Finder top bar!?!
