Is it possible to connect a 2010 MBA to Apple Thunderbolt Cinema Display (adapters?)

Hi,

I would really like to get the newest Apple Cinema Display (thunderbolt), but I'm not gonna upgrade my Macs until 2012 (Ivy Bridge, USB3 etc..). Until then I'll use my 2010 MacBook Air. Is there a way to connect this model to Apples external thunderbolt display? I know a direct connection doesn't work, but is there an adapter or a thunderbolt-mini displayport cable that can work?

You might just get audio and video.

MIGHT.

I would wait until you're getting your new 2012 mac. That way you can pick one off refurbished and save several hundred dollars.

As of right now (this may change with firmware updates, but that's at Apple's discretion), the source must be Thunderbolt.

It's just like the 2011 iMacs. You can't use a PS3 (for example) on its screen even with a Thunderbolt-compatible Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI dongle. Trust me, I tried it.

Just wanted to chime in and say the Apple Store has the Thunderbolt cable now for $49.

That won't really help, as the problem is that the display only works on computers that have Thunderbolt ports, rather than just Mini-Displayports like the 2010 MBA.
