When you drop an SSD into a MacBook, how does it initially boot up? I have searched for a guide on the net and they all seem to involve removing the superdrive and having both the ssd plus the original drive in place, and booting from the original drive.

Is it possible that if I remove the original hdd and replace it with an ssd, that when I turn the computer on and hold down option during startup that I will have the option to boot from USB and install Lion straight onto the ssd?

Hope that makes sense
