SMART w/ new hard disk - no free fall protection?

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded the hard disk in my 2010 15-inch MBP from the stock 320 GB Hitachi to a 500 GB Hitachi, and I've noticed that when I run a tool such as TechTool Pro and run a SMART check on the drive that "Free Fall Protection" is no longer displayed.

Is the Sudden Motion Sensor still protecting the new hard disk in my computer, and if so why isn't this attribute showing up for the hard disk during SMART tests?

System Information will show wether the sudden motion sensor is active or not. You can find it near the bottom of the main hardware page.

It says Enabled, but will it be able to park the hard disk where it is not an Apple-supplied hard disk? I've heard of cases where this happens, and this is the reason I did not buy a drive with free fall protection built in so that I dont run into kernel panics or other issues with the two sensor systems clashing
