iSight magnet mount question
I just picked up an iSight and it didn't include the clear plastic mount for the G4 iMac flat panel display. But I discovered the magnet mount for the aluminum display will work with my older, flat panel. It sticks on top just fine, but I'm guessing there's a reason they don't recommend this.
Can anyone tell me if I'll damage my flat panel by putting the magnet on top every now and again to use the iSight? I bought my iMac a year ago, so it's not one of the newer G5s. Thanks. |

Also wondering...
I also have an older flat panel iMac and I am, getting the isight delivered for my birthday. I assumed that it included the proper sticky mount in the box, but I guess that it comes in the accessory kit. My question is what does it really come with then? Does the magnetic mount work securly on your iMac flat panel? Very much looking forward to using it with Quicktime 7!!

iSight mounts
I got three mounts in my box: the magnetic one, a clear plastic clip/screw one that I think is for Powerbooks, and a clear plastic stand with a sticker on the bottom.
The magnetic one works great. It sits right on top of the older flat panel display and holds the iSight well. I'm just worried that the magent will have some ill effects on the display. But maybe not, I don't know. The instructions say to use the clear plastic one that can be purchased separately. |

Magnets don't negatively affect LCDs.

Re: iSight mounts
Thanks for all the replys.
The Powerbook clip doesn't work on the older flat panel. I thought that would work too, but the clip doesn't tighten up enough to make contact. |

Also, having just looked at the magnet mount, I suspect part of it is because the ledge on the flat panel is pretty narrow, and since the screen is movable it might easily fall off. Don't understand why they couldn't engineer the clip to work with the flat panel. |

I could be off base, but from what I remember the only way a magnet would effect current in a wire is if it is in constant motion and fairly close to the actual wire. As I said, I could be off base, but I don't see that there's any problem with using the magnetic mount.

I use the magnetic stand on my 17" Samsung LCD and have been since December. Like LikeTom said, magnets don't hurt LCDs, just make sure any external HDs or things aren't really close to it.

Me Too! Me Too! I need an Isight flat panel display mount
Where in the heck can I find that little L shaped, (actually, it's kind of S or Z shaped) plastic mount for the Isight to fit on my flat panel Imac?
