G5 Cube!

A guy in Japan decided to build a G5 cube. Thing is I can't read Japanese and I'm not sure what hardware he packed inside. Either way it's a cool looking thing.

Damn thats a pretty killer mod. I'd snatch one up if I had the chance.

Where does he get all the plastic and everything. I tried to bablefish the site but it comes out looking like the plans in the movie "Contact". 😛
 
I think this is pretty old. Of course, I've got a cube and hang out at cubeowner.com where we obsess about all things cube, even in Japanese. 🙂 In fact, one Japanese fellow was making a ton of cool geegaws for cubes. I can't find a link to his website.
 
That is just so cool, I'd snap up one immediately if they were to hit Apple store shelves. Portability of an iMac but upgradability of a PowerMac.

Exactly. It could be the "Mac Mini" for Pros. I would pick one up for sure.

Come on Stebe and Ives! You can do it.
 
It does look very cool, but is it not just an old cube put into a new housing? He didn't show making the insides fit the box. Anyway who cares. If they can make a G4 fit in a mac mini then they can make a G5 fit in a cube. Can't they?
 
I wish apple would come out with a PowerMac mini...theres a market there a know. Just give it one PCI slot, up to a 250 gig HDD, a decent graphics card and 4 slots for ram and you have a damn hot mac for home users that is no where as big and hopefully a fair bit cheaper than the current PMs.

That would be sweet if they gave us that as an update and the updated the "real" PM's at WWDC 🙄 😀
 
that would rock, set the price at about one grand, a little less, but not too much more (cause more than a grand you might as well get an iMac with a screen!) i would deffinly get one if i could get an affordably priced G5. instead, i think im going to get a mini at the tiger release.
 
wow, that's some nice work....drilling all those holes for the screen in the front and back - ouch.

Its just too bad its still a G4 inside...

Wow that is great!!

I am considering building a new case for my G3/4 hybrid. I spotted a post on Applefritter in regards to someone making their own G5 case out of plastic components. His attention to detail would rival this G5'ish Cube.

There are some people out there with some incredible talent!!

Here is the next page:
