iPod contacts question...

I was syncing my iPod with iSync, an I was curious as to why the iPod can't display all of the info from Addressbook. I know Apple says that it can only display basically info labeled as "Home" and "Work" (which it labels "Office"). But I was wondering why this has to be this way. I don't know much about the vCard standard, but couldn't Apple include, in the next firmware upgrade, the ability for the iPod to display everything, including custom-made labels? I'd like to be able to see the labels I create for my friends' school addresses and such (It can't read the label "School"). Thanks for the help.
