That's what he says, but I still believe there's going to be another beta.

Nothing unusual.
Beta 1 was released in June and expired August 4th.

Maybe you're confusing the expiration date with the proposed release date for the next beta.

The expiration dates are hard-coded in the build. Those are normally pretty accurate.

release of next beta or public release has no impact on the expiration date of the beta. They are purposely made to be well beyond when they think the next beta (or GM) will be out

The 29th is a Thursday though... 😕

Predictions:

iOS 5 beta 7 release on the 2nd

iOS 5 GM release on the 16th

keynote on the 28th
