Can't uninstall Macfuse

As the title states, it won't allow me to uninstall macfuse. Whenever I click on uninstall macfuse in the pref. pane, it seems to just check for updates and says "no updates available"

it says "installed version 2.1.9"

how do i get rid of it?

Why not just right click (command+click) on the panel and click remove.. alternatively manually drag the MacFUSE.prefPane to the trash and logout/restart??

didn't know if just right clicking on it and hitting remove actually uninstalled the app or just "removed it" from my sys. preferences.

i was also unsure if macfuse.prefpane is the only file associated with it?
based on this webpage (link) i see that there is also this file associated with it?

Q 2.3. How can I uninstall MacFUSE?

Option A Doesn't Work For me

A: Launch the Mac OS X System Preferences application and go to the MacFUSE preference pane. Click on the "Remove MacFUSE" button. This will uninstall all MacFUSE components except the preference pane itself.

You can keep the MacFUSE preference pane around should you decide to install MacFUSE again in the future. If you do wish to remove it, you do it just like how you would remove any other non-Apple preference pane: In System Preferences, control-click (right-click) on the MacFUSE icon and you will see "Remove ..." as an action.

Only if you had the "Show Beta Versions" button checked in the MacFUSE prefpane, you'll have a property list (plist) file remaining at this point: /Library/Preferences/com.google.macfuse.plist. To remove it, you should uncheck the button before you remove the prefpane as described above.

Note that an official (correct) MacFUSE installation will have a preference pane if you have MacFUSE 2.0 or later installed. If you have an older version of MacFUSE, you can uninstall as follows.

Can I just do what it says for 10.5? i see the file where it says it is.

Deprecated Installation Information

Run the uninstall-macfuse-core.sh script that resides in the Support subdirectory of the MacFUSE file system bundle. The bundle itself resides in /System/Library/Filesystems/ on Mac OS X 10.4.x and in /Library/Filesystems/ on Mac OS X 10.5.x.

For example, to uninstall MacFUSE on Mac OS X 10.4.x, you would run the following command in the Terminal:

sudo /System/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/uninstall-macfuse-core.sh
To uninstall MacFUSE on Mac OS X 10.5.x and above, you would run:

sudo /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/uninstall-macfuse-core.sh
If the file system bundle in your MacFUSE installation doesn't have a Support subdirectory, that means you have an incredibly ancient version of MacFUSE. Please look for the uninstall script within the fusefs.fs/ directory itself.

I just wanted to be precautions before i removed something like macfuse.

At the time, mine was the most recent free version available, after discarding/removal, the said prefPane ended up in my trash can like everything else. Usually any preference files left behind shouldn't auto load without the initial application anyway therefore shouldn't harm your system.

After manually checking my preference folder for supporting files, non where discovered soo I'm willing to bet it'll be safe to remove the said panel manually or via CMD+click if you prefer.

I also need to get rid of MacFUSE under Lion.

One question:

Where did it come from?

I always write down what I install and from where I get it,
I couldn't find any notes about MacFUSE!
Did it come bundled with another App...?

Thanks.

(BTW: I never installed Chrome or anything from Google.)

I guess it came with Parallels Trial version and hadn't been removed when uninstalling it. Can this be...?
