Performa 6360 flashing question mark disk on startup
I originally made a thread about obtaining a monitor adapter for my Performa 6360. Well, I managed to get one and it works great, but now I'm getting the flashing question mark of doom on startup. I'm going to see if my mom can find the original CDs and mail them to me. I also tried sticking an OS 9 install CD in and starting up from that, but I got a message that told me my hard drive was not compatible and to update it, or something like that. Any advice on trying to get my hard drive to start up so I can see what old treasures I may still have on it before having to try wiping it out completely? Thanks!!

My answer depends on whether you have another Older Mac or not. If you do (or a PC that can create a Mac Compatible Boot Floppy) - I would find one of the Mac OS 7.6/8.0 Boot Floppies with Disk Utilities thats floating around the web, Boot off it, and run Disk First Aid using it. (7.5.5 should also work with your Mac, as would 7.5.3 with the correct Enabler). That may be the easiest way of seeing if the hard drive is working and just needs to be updated to Mac OS 9 Drivers, or if its dead/corrupted. If you don't, then you might want to get the original CDs and hope they prove any better.
