iTunes error:” Some of the items in the iTunes library..” re-add files, retain data.

Error:

“Some of the items in the iTunes library, including [name of piece], were not copied to the iPod [iPod name] because they could not be found. The message went on to indicate 100 total problems.”

Is there a way to keep all the information retained in the iTunes library file (i.e. ratings, play counts, ect), but re-add the library in question so that all files are linked correctly?

The “Locate” feature doesn't seem to do the trick.

Is there any tricks to relinking the files easily?

TIA
