Bluetooth snags a new backer

Quote:
Taiwan chip and device maker Via plans to add Bluetooth networking capabilities to its new products, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The company licensed Bluetooth designs on Tuesday from telecommunications equipment maker Ericsson, which controls most of the technology's patents. Via will spend the next three months deciding what to do next, such as whether or not to embed Bluetooth into its chipsets, said Gaynor de Wit, Via's marketing specialist.

Via has theirselves their own little niche n the PC world.
It's nothing to brag about, but most people know who they are.

Via mostly makes chipsets for AMD MBs.
They also own the rights to the Cyrix name. If you look in the very low end PC line you're likely to find a system with a Via C3 800 Mhz or so.

Here's their site.
