FIFA 12 on MacBook Air

Oh my....I didn't realise this was coming to the Mac!?

I'm a religious FIFA player. How would this work on the Mac though, need a joypad?

Excellent. Supposedly identical to the console versions, too. I'm getting rid of my xbox, it's the only game I play.

what specs do we need to run it?

i have an 11'' Air. 128GB, 4GB, 1.6 i5,

Will it even work on any air? It's not that graphically intense, but I think it might push it to the limit

Is it going to be available on the App Store? I still have my $100 educational card waiting for something nice...

Has anyone tried online play on the Mac version? Does it work well?

I have the base 2011 13" Air, game runs perfectly on low graphics settings. Only drawback is that the mouse calibration is a little off, so I have to put the mouse right next to something to click it, not on it. It's either a little bit above or below the thing I need to click, but it's really not that bad as I rarely use the mouse while playing.

I got like 9 seasons into manager mode and took a team from the lowest level of English football to the Premier League then got fired for doing poorly at the top level. Booo.

I think that since you're mentioning bootcamp you mean the pc version. This does run well - but, of course, you have to boot into windows to run it.

But what the OP was talking about is a true MAC version. The site says it runs on 10.6.8 or above, and also discriminates which graphic cards are compatible.

I decided to risk 40 bucks and I'm downloading it now. I hope it works well. If it does it will be awesome. I will not covet a ps3 anymore (since this would probably be only game I'd play on one).

Get the Windows version and play via Boot Camp.

The Mac version is far more sluggish on my MacBook Pro than it is under Windows. Not to mention that my USB PS2 controllers didn't work properly on OS X but work fine (plug 'n' play) under Windows.

PS3 controller works fine in OS X you know.

MBA gamers are used to really low settings and we tolerate frame rates people with bigger PCs won't.

So OP question not answered.

I know you said ps2 controller. Point is why struggle with a ps2 controller when a ps3 works wirelessly?

PS3 controller does not work with Fifa 12. I've tried numerous times and the buttons are way off. R2 is like back, clicking the left joystick is like X, L and R are on the D-Pad. I've even tried configuring the controllers to make them work but to no avail.

I use a wired Xbox 360 controller, but LT and RT do not work

EDIT: So I figured it out how thanks to some Germans.

Follow these instruction to get the Xbox controller to work perfectly.

Replace: Users / myusername / Documents / EA / FIFA 12 /buttonDataSetup.ini

and the controller is mapped out perfectly.

or if someone can tell me how to configure my ps3 controls with fifa 12, i followed the steps of opening /Documents/Electronic Arts/FIFA 12/buttonDataSetup.ini and adding the controller, everything worked except the square button, i tried going to the website above but for some reason it wouldn't work at all, it would say not found error message. So if someone can be kind enough to send me screenshots of how to fix my problem or any other way to fix my problem. Thank you.

Surely cheaper to buy a PC version for £10 ($17) and run it through bootcamp?

Also the xbox controller works great through bootcamp.

FIFA 12 works perfectly on my mac pro and the performance is very close to the windows version on the same machine. My mac pro is 2008 model with nvidia 8800GT, so most of the newer iMac should work better.

As for getting the xbox 360 controller to work, here is what you need to do

1) download and install the free drivers, just google it and you'll find them

2) you need to do this

You will need to edit the "buttonData.ini" This file is located in username/documents/electronic arts/fifa12

if you don't see it there, then do the following

a) launch FIFA 12 (with you game pad disconnected)

b) go to settings > controller settings > controls

c) change some key mappings for the keyboard.

d) quit fifa and go back to the documents folder and you should see now a "buttonData.ini" file in there.

Now apply the following changes to this file and you will be rocking.

The instructions below are based on someone else's handwork on the ea forums and they work perfectly, so thanks to him/her. Otherwise I wanted to clarify how to get the buttonData file since i originally didn't have it in my folder



"Remember to only replace "Controller_045" in the "buttonData.ini" file, open it with TextEdit. So far, I have absolutely had no issues with this, so fingers crossed. Everything works at the moment; including the left and right analog stick buttons, when you click them down, and when you press "Back" it didn't work before hand, but this should fix it. ENJOY!

Hi, I'm sorry for bringing up such an old topic, but I bought recently Fifa 12 for mac and I'm having some troubles. Even though I play on my base 2012 Macbook air, I was expecting little better performance. The problem is with changing field pattern. As you can see on the screens below, the normal pattern sometimes changes into some sort of mess and during this, the game is quite laggy. However, when the field looks normal, the game runs pretty much normal. Did anyone have similar problem?
Firstly I thought it is because of the Air hardware, but even when I change the resolution to 640x480, the problem with changing pattern stays.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
