Is your HDD always being written to?

I have Lion on a SSD and my User folder is on my HDD. Spotlight indexing is done but my HDD is being written to every few seconds from 2KB/s to 200KB/s. The constant HDD grumbling noise is getting annoying.

I have Google Chrome, iTunes, iChat, Mail, and Numbers open. I'm not doing anything though, not listening to music. Just letting it idle and watching the Activity Monitor.
