Apple has seemingly outed the "iPhone 4S" name in the latest iTunes beta released Friday, according to this screenshot posted by 9to5Mac.

The screenshot shows specific mention of the "iPhone 4S" using the same image icon as the iPhone 4 CDMA. This suggests that the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 4S and will look identical to the Verizon iPhone 4:

It's possible that the image is only a placeholder, but all previous parts evidence has suggested that the new iPhone 4S will look nearly identical to the current iPhone.

Apple is holding its media event on Tuesday, October 4th where the company is expected to launch the new iPhone.

It's alright I guess, was really hoping for the same form factor with a bigger screen that runs edge to edge. However, the 8MP camera would make me really happy since I use my iPhone camera only and do not own a standard digital camera. Can't wait till Tuesday morning.

Hmm... I think Apple "leaked" this on purpose. Shoot down expectations of a new phone, then come out of nowhere at the keynote with a radical new iPhone 5.

And the 4s is the cheap iPhone.

There's no way....If it was just a 4S- Apple would've shipped this since June.

There will be an iPhone 5 I am 100% certain of it.

There is no way after 16 months they would just release a specs update of an existing phone without anything else

HI
To be honest I'm a bit disappointed... 15+ months and all we get is a few internal improvements??

I do wonder how this handset will be able to stand up to its competitors. Given the hardware doesn't seem too "new", will Apple be hyping up the improved user experience in iOS 5 instead?
