Help!

Hi Im looking for some advice from those in the know...having cracked the front screen on my ipad 2, I bought a new one and proceeded to follow the youtube clips of how to change the screen. The screen ultimately shattered and the small speaker connector (foil/copper?) split. It is still touching and I have tried to get a part, unsucessfully. Im wondering if it will still work if it is split or if I need to send it to a repairer? I dont want to put it all together and find the speaker wont work. I can send photos if that gives a better idea of what part I'm referring to. It simply doesnt look a very important part, but I simply wouldn't know. Advice would be appreciated
