How to view .gif in lion?

im a new mac user, can lion view saved gifs? i opened one in preview but it isn't animated.

Why not just drop it on a browser window?
Drag it to an open window in Safari, Firefox, Chrome...

Quick Look works fine for me. Select the gif and press spacebar. Voilá!

Preview used to be able to play animated GIFs but no longer does, as of Leopard. Quick Look replaced this functionality.
