Confirmed: all Verizon iPhone 4 cases are compatible with iPhone 4S.

Just talked to Apple support, and they were able to confirm for me that any case designed to fit iPhone 4 (Verizon CDMA) will fit iPhone 4S. I specifically asked about the camera cutout, and they were able to tell me that it is the same size.

Good? Great. Going to order my OtterBox Defender from Amazon for $17 now.

Viva la 4S!

We already knew this, but thanks for confirming it (I guess).

Some people knew, but the info was scattered about within various threads about other things, and not in a single, consolidated topic. I think this will be easier for people to see. Heck, it should be made a sticky.

Yeah, a lot of people here keep thinking that the camera and/or LED might be larger or there is some myth about the sensors on the front being in different places. The answer is no, it is the same as the OP stated.

Thanks for the info, but does that mean only the Verizon iPhone 4 version have been confirmed to fit? What about the AT&T one?

(I never owned a iPhone 4, so I have no clue how the Verizon one looks like compared to the AT&T.)

Thanks!

Right. The mute-switch is moved downwards slightly on the Verizon version of the iPhone 4, and the 4S is modeled after this version. Therefore, if you're buying an iPhone 4 case for iPhone 4S, you want to be sure that's it's either a "Verizon" or "Universal" case.

Oh okay, thanks!

So do you know if cases like this would have a difference? -
http://www.elementcase.com/Vapor-4-W...-1014-ww0w.htm

Because the compatibility disclaimer thing above the "Add to Cart", states it is only for the AT&T version.
But looking at the area of the mute button, it seems like there is a lot of space regardless of whether it will be the Verizon or AT&T version.

Or when you meant the mute button is moved slightly down, do you mean move slightly towards the volume button or towards the direction of the back?

Did everyone forget that the WHITE 4 was slightly thinker than black, making "some" case NOT fit, (like a clear case I had) -

anyone remember that? (is the white 4s thicker than the black)?

I saw a close up pic where you could visually see the white back was thicker than the black back, (anyone seen that pic)?

Could it just be an optical illusion because of the high contrast between the black and silver side?

If your white phone is thicker than your black phone, your white phone is defective.

OP, please change the title of this thread to Just called Apple: Many iPhone 4 cases are compatible with iPhone 4S.

I have an ATT iPhone 4, and use an Incipio NGP with a narrow cutout for the mute button. I'm pretty sure the CDMA phone would not fit my case. Therefore not all cases will fit the 4S.

What about the UK? We don't get the Verizon iPhone, and therefore we don't get anything marketed for it, or as 'universal'. Hopefully I can find one with 4S compatibility, or I'll just have to hope that it fits...
