Once you get your 4s..do you charge out of the box or drain battery then charge?

I've never gotten a definitive answer to this and this will be my first iPhone. Any suggestions to prolong the life of the battery?
 
Use it as normal. We aren't in the 1990's anymore. The battery is intelligent and is able to prolong its life very well.
