How much of a difference would you say there is between the 2010 and 2011 models

Would you say there is a small, moderate or big difference between the 2010 and 2011 Macbook Pro, 2010 and 2011 Macbook Air.

Do not mention Thunderbolt port it has no use to me and will not for atleast the next year or year and a half.
 
I bought a 2010 model of the 13 inch Macbook Pro not too long ago over the 2011. I find that it runs a lot quieter and has superior graphical performance (Intel integrated vs. Nvidia Geforce 320M). The processor in the 2011 model is superior though.

This is comparison can be applicable to the Macbook Air too since they have somewhat similar specifications, I think.
 
Check the list.
The 13" base model went from 3300 up to 5900 points. What do you think?

The thing with base models is though that the old ones were fast enough for the things most people throw at them and it simply doesn't matter as much as on the high end, where people mean to do a bit more than surfing and word processing.
 
Battery life

I could have had either but went for the 2010 for longer battery life.
Maybe if it was my only Mac I might have gone the other way - but it seems one of the most important factors - especially considering we cant carry spare batteries any more.

I cant comment much otherwise as I haven't experienced the 2011 - but my 2010 MBP doesn't run hot.

wasn't the longer battery life a lie???? LOL they just became more accurate in rendering it in 2011... i5 leaves C2D near the starting line..

Battery life? What? I can easily get 6 or so hours out of my machine depending on what I'm doing,,, and I have a 2011 13 inch MBP.

If you have the money, I'd get the 2011. The wifi card is a lot better and the processor is amazing. Machine runs hot when playin intense games though.
 
The fact that you're even asking the question implies there is no practical difference for your needs. Facebook and iTunes run equally well on all modern Mac portables.

If I'm getting My first MacBook pro and I want to edit video, by your lgoc I should get the old one, which is obviously the bad choice. See the problem there?

Clarification my friend, you need it.

If you want to edit video then get the newer MBP as Video editing programs rely on CPU power and not GPU. Also max out the ram to 8gbs and if possible work with an external drive (firewire 800) or another internal hard drive as the disk you write too.
 
I bought a used 2010 on ebay for $780 in excellent shape. For that price its hard to justify spending the extra on the 2011. I have had all sorts of hardware, have had multiple 2010 macbook pros, a 2009 macbook pro, the 13" 2010 air, the 13" 2011 air. I would say that the perfect computer is the 2011 13" air but its almost twice what I paid for my 2010 macbook pro and so I am happy I returned it. Nothing I do uses the speed of the SSD or of the sandy bridge cpus so to me the 2010 macbook pro is really just as fast as any of those computers. It really doesn't take much resources to browse the internet and do photos etc. I also had the iPad and iPad 2 and I love my iPad 2 as well but the no flash aspect really hurts it for me
