NEW iPod TV Ads!

Apple is airing new iPod ads. The new ads feature the same sihouette style with people on rollerblades. It seems the new ads first aired on SNL tonight.

They're not up on the site yet, hopefully they will put them up.

I saw it on SNL too. Same junk, different song.

Apple's ads are useless IMO, they don't advertise the product and make it seem the only feature of the iPod is that it makes you dance around to flashy colors.

In other news, System of a Down's performance on SNL was great (which is the only reason I endured 30 minutes of not-funnyness beforehand)

Any new colors in them? I'm so used to seeing green with the Shuffle ads.

I have to disagree with that. They're not so much advertising the product, but rather the thing you get from the product. I mean people don't want an iPod because "it's an iPod" (ok well maybe some do ), they want it because it plays music, and the ads show people having fun listening to music and if you get an iPod, you can do that to. This is really with most products. You don't buy a BMW because it's a "BMW" you buy it because of the quality and style, etc. It's not so much the product we want, it's use of the product and what it can do for us is what we want. Thus I think Apple's iPod ads are very useful and effective, if they weren't the iPod line probably wouldn't be as successful as it is now. So the ads must be working to some degree.

That's just the way I see it.

EDIT: And I would agree with you if the iPod were a new product. But most people already know what the iPod looks like, they don't need ads to tell them that. Concentrating on how the iPod can make you feel and what it can make you do is more effective now.

I agree with you.

They need something new and fresh: a real-life visual would be nice; people everywhere know about the iPod: know they need to convince those who are hesitant to buy one. The early adoptors were hip to the ads, but now they need to sign up memebers of teh older domographics...

i enjoyed it....

I personally like them. No one skates anymore so it was fun to watch people that know how to do it well. I also liked the music.

wah??????

I don't get it, why do you guys hate this commercial. I love it. Sure the roller skating is kinda gimmicky, but you remember the commercial don't you. That's the point of a commercial guys. Plus they have the new Gorillaz song "Feel Good, Inc." which I love and fits perfectly, you will feel good with an iPod

That was indeed rather disappointing. I thought it was quite stupid, really. They are clearly marketing to tasteless PC users at this point. It's really starting to bug me.

the song doesnt really seem to fit in with the ad, but as said above, you remember it so it does its job. apple are not advertising the ipod any more, htye are instead building a brand and they are doing that sucessfully.

It's nice that there is a new commercial out. I was getting so sick of "Walkie Talkie man", but again with the same theme. You can really only go so far. The iPod is already a pop icon. Where are the new Mac ads?

(I really don't want to see color inverted people dancing around holding a new Dual 2.7 Powermac with the AC cord staying white) New concept, please.

Am I the only one that thinks they should stop this junk?

What about the macs? What about advertising that, for example, Airport Express brings families closer by allowing everyone to do their own thing and sit in the same room...what about advertising the Mac Mini as a media station, what about making music, writing, editing, the new OS???!

I'm fed up of the adverts. This is all Apple seems intrested in placing on our television. the iPod is not a long-term revenue earner. While the word on the street is still about the iPod, the word in the business world is what a success it was.

I don't really like the silhouette ads (except the Ballmer spoof, of course )... and this one was not better nor worse than the rest...

I think they should run some Mac ads, and not provoke Apple Corp by running new iPod/iTunes ads with the Apple logo so close to the next chapter in the ongoing soap operasque struggle between Apple Inc and Apple Corp...
