The federal government has begun a large-scale crackdown of Medical Marijuana dispensaries in California. Landlords are being threatened. In addition, they just announced that they are also targeting publications that contain info and advertisements regarding medical marijuana.

How could this impact the iTunes store? Well, an app like Weed Maps shows dispensary locations, strains and detailed prices of medical marijuana via a map interface. Not much different than a newspaper or magazine publishing an advertisement with similar information. The Feds could go after Apple on this one.

My guess is we'll see something in news the next 2-4 weeks about this and Apple's response.

A little known fact: Marijuana is classified by the Feds as a Schedule 1 drug ( just like herion) and Cocaine is a Schedule 2 drug (like Oxycodone and Ritilin)
