Address Book Smart Group Problem in Lion

I have upgraded to Lion Address Book 6.1
I have a problem with a "Smart Group" not working.
I have created a Smart Group I call "Non-Group" by selecting:
Card = is not a member of = any group

I use this Smart Group to determine if I have not classified a contact in the 8 groups I have created.
This worked fine in Snow Leopard.

Now in Lion Address Book 6.1 it is not working?
I have tested adding contacts, but not adding them to a group.
The ungrouped contacts do not show up in my "Non-Group" Smart List.

Any ideas?
Or is this a bug?

I have exactly the same issue. I expect that it may be a bug to do with 'any group' definition. Would be great if someone has a fix.

Me too

I have the same problem. I hoped I would get used to the new Address Book, but I must say it is really bad in so many ways.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Yep. The new Address Book sucks. I have purchased Addresses in the App Store to get the 3 pane view.
And also use BusyCal to replace the awful Calendar.
I am sorry I upgraded to Lion.

There is definitely a bug in the Lion Address book.

Solution 1: A free iPhone app called PowerContact Lite won't create groups, but it easily and correctly identifies contacts without groups and places contacts within groups.

Solution 2: On the Mac, redefine "isn't a member of any group" by "isn't a member of Group A" and "isn't a member of Group B" and "isn't a member of Group C" etc. all the way through all your groups. What's left, isn't a member of any group.
