Can't find a definitive answer to this...is there a way to set up iMessages to go to my computer as well as my iphone and ipad? It's working on the latter two.

No but It should have worked with iChat in my opinion. Like documents in the cloud should have been more intergrated with iWork on the mac. I can't help but feeling Apple keeps randomly forgetting to add stuff to the mac.

Wish it was/will be added to the Mac. I love iMessage being in sync on my iPhone 4 and iPad.

If you use an email address tied to your iMessage device will it save the messages in this email inbox or is this just for syncing multiple Apple/iMessage capable devices?

No, it won't send the messages to the email address. Although that would be a cool toggle feature in case you wanted a long archive. It'll just be in the thread in iMessage on the Mac, or Messages on your devices.
