iTunes 4.8!

I have just downloaded iTunes 4.8!
Software update didn't seem to want it and here it says "4.7", click on the link however, and here - lo and behold "4.8"!
Not sure what's updated!

Sweet, this means I won't have to use iSync and iTunes, I can do it all in iTunes.

It's already runing on my G4. Not a lot new here...

What's new in iTunes 4.8
iTunes 4.8 includes new Music Store features and support for transferring contacts and calendars from your computer to your iPod (requires Mac OS X version 10.4 on your computer).

Video!

iTunes now plays Video! You can drag movies in and it then plays them in full screen using a dedicated video button, and a video icon pops up next to a clip!

iTunes - The Video and Music Library.

yea no joke, iTunes now organises videos as well, and plays them in full screen, no more complaining about Quicktime now

not impressed

i am not impressed with this in the slightest. it does not have a separate video and music library, and it tired to copy my movies into my itunes music folder (because i tell itunes to keep my music organized). i am yet to see a way to allow itunes to organize your music in the itunes music folder, but leave your movies alone.

Not seeing it. I've tried two movies, and it just played the audio. Eh?

EDIT: Sometimes my own stupidity amazes me. I haven't updated yet. Someone smack me.

Anybody know what player is built in on Windows, or is it just pulling the Quicktime 6 player? This could be a hint to the imminent release of Quicktime 7 for Windows.

On another note, why can I not play video in a non full screen mode, damn people are fussy

God Apple, not even close to quicktime. No full screen controls, window resizing is slow as hell, no category for videos, no other prefs, no easy way to find them.

That has got to be the worst implementation of a feature since the first iPhoto....

Apple is really slipping lately.

The added video feature adds credence to this thread about video streaming as a new feature for Airport Express

Exciting stuff! Apple definetly has something up their sleeve.

I agree. This is probably the reason why they kept fullscreen video a pro feature for QT Player.

Also, the US iTMS now has 1.3 million tracks.

Just click on the video and another window will open, you can also select this as a standard in the advanced prefs.

What about 5.0?

The title of this is stupid, I know, but I am really looking forward to iTunes 5.0. I read a rumor a while back about Apple putting on a lot of new features. Any ideas or thoughts on new features? I'd love to see someway you could download the music videos and NOT PAY FOR THEM! Of course that probably won't happen.....oh well.

So updating my iPod now takes an extra 30 seconds to update contacts/calendars even when nothing has changed.

Also updating the iPod now warns that the video files weren't copied because they can't be played on the iPod (I know you can turn that warning off, but if that also turns of the warnings for when a track can't be found, etc. that would be a bad thing).

So with .Mac syncing built in to System Preferences and iPod syncing built into iTunes, that means iSync is only needed for phones?

this is my problem as well. i drag a 600 mb movie into itunes, and itunes tired to copy that 600mb file into my music folder, why? it was already in my movie folder, why consolidate movies with music, what one earth is going on.

now i have disabled itunes music organizing so i can view movies. this makes no sense. this really sucks.

this only thing i am looking forward for it new ipods. most likely tomorrow.

edit: great it just crashed on me now, i am not impressed at all.
