not at all, thats just for the iTMS downloaded songs and has been there for a while too obviously. MPEG4 is m4p essentially for the songs that are downloaded or AAC encoded

There has been an OGG icon in iTunes for a LONG time- this is not new

yeah one of my mates just told me that as well.

but why would they be there unless apple plan on using them?

Exactly, same for the WMA one and pretty sure about the M4P one too.

I think the ogg icons have actually been in iTunes for a while now. It probably still doesn't play the files. I think that the presence of these icons just hints that Apple *might* feel like adding support for these codecs if enough of a demand is generated.

I looked at them before the update and the only new one I see is the Movie icon - all the others have been included for a while now.

Before posting that iTunes "supports" these files, did you bother to try to drag some of these file types into iTunes to check?
As far as I know, the iPods still can't play WMA, so what's the point?
Looks more speculative to me.

tried drag and dropping a wma on 4.8 for mac, no dice.

I just did that and ITunes 4.8 won't import *.wma formats
