Any Utility to Scan For Bad Sectors?

I haven't been living in MAC land for too long so I'm not sure what is out there to check discs for errors. My iPod keeps on having copy errors with certain files and I'm wondering if bad sectors are the cause.

One more thing - Please let there be a freeware app to do this!
