Webcam Light Won't Turn Off

My macbook webcam light is lit and I can't figure out how to turn it off. I have done a few things lately to it, nothing hardware. I have downloaded audacity, soundflower, calibre, and also pawnagetool to jailbreak my iphone. Those have all been with the last week, but when I restarted my computer today with the apple security update, the light came on. I have the webcam on and off and it doesn't change it. I am out of ideas.

Does it also happen in another, even temporarily created, user account?

What Mac OS X version are you running on what exact Mac?

Have you taken a look at Activity Monitor (SHOW ALL PROCESSES should be selected, then sorted by Name) and seen anything suspicious?

When you reboot, at what point does the light come on?

So I restarted twice, and tried another account, the light never went off. I totally shut down and the light went off and now it hasn't come back on. I'm hoping it was just a glitch. In case anyone else has any ideas of what it was, I'm running snow leopard 10.6.8 on a 2008-9 white macbook. I'm not sure what to look for in the activity monitor. But like I said, it is fixed for now, so hopefully no worries.

You could get the iPatch, as extra insurance.

I've seen it a few times. One fix I found was to remove the RAM from the machine start it (get the beeps) then power down replace RAM then zap the PRAM then the light turned off. If its not on now I wouldn't worry about it.

This happened to me as well today; I simply opened up Photo Booth, took a couple of pictures and closed it to get the light to finally turn off.

Hello.

Maybe you can fill my desire to find the following out. How did you come upon this thread and why did you search for it and why did you register to just make this post?

Do you go around to find topics regarding your solutions?
