I can't get my Mac to change any of my system preferences. Everytime I shut down the Sys Preferences window, the changes I made just go back to how they were previously set. Help?

I can't get my Mac to change any of my system preferences. Everytime I shut down the Sys Preferences window, the changes I made just go back to how they were previously set. Help?
Did you change something in your Library folder for instance? If yes, maybe you have problems with the rights of the folder.
But first thing to do is to repair the rights of your volume. Do this in Disk Utility. Then try again saving. If it doesn't work then, ask again.
