Meanwhile, Apple (AAPL ), the leader in online music with its iTunes MP3 downloading service, saw shares drop by as much as 7% before finishing the day off almost 3%.
I didn't know I was downloading MP3s from the iTMS.

No duh. Yahoo's service is actually a good thing for Apple because it'll force more download services to close. Am I right?

Yes, and Yahoo is late to the game with an unsustainable price point.

Hey, I said this yesterday. I should be a tech "journalist". Of course, I'm one of about a thousand people that says this every time some new iTunes competitor pops up. Enjoy the other <30% fellas. Most of us are pretty happy with iTunes/iPod.

I still have issues with Yahoo! Maps. And Yahoo! TV. And Yahoo! Launch. I'll pass, thanks.

At least they spelled iPod properly. I've seen too many printed news reports (not just Internet-based ones) where they spelled it IPod or Ipod.

"Good publicity, bad publicity, just spell my name right."
