Sandforce + Lion
So I have and sandforce based ssd an gskill phoenix pro and never had issues with it (under snow leopard). Now under lion if I let the computer idle for a while it crashes (no kernel panic just the beach ball forever).
Under snow leopard it was fine. Since is notorious that old sandforce ssds have issues sleeping it there an workaround to this problem? Or is anybody experiencing it?
I'm using 10.7.2 and the ssd firmware is at it's latest version (4.2)
edit: before I was using an 500gb toshiba hdd without issues (under lion)

I have a similar issue. Never a beach ball after idling, but occasionally when I wake the computer from sleep, I will get it and have to restart. Also, sometimes I'll get the flashing question mark on boot, and sometimes the MBP will not go to sleep when I close the lid. I'm on 3.1. I was planning on upgrading to 4.2 in a few weeks when I found the time, but it's not looking like it will help.
Never a problem in SL.
