Hi Guys.

My name is Jake and I have just signed up. :D

Recently I've been having alot of problems with my iMac not connecting to the Internet via an Ethernet cable.

My network is as follows.

ISP Virgin modem.
>
Netgear router.
>
Homeplug
>
Switch
>
iMac.

I'm pretty positive its not the homeplug or switch because my Xbox runs perfectly through them.

Now I've tried various things such as rebooting the router and modem, changing the ethernet cable and I've also given the iMac a static IP.

All of these things make it regain connection for around 30 seconds to a minute tops and then drops out.

The "network settings" for Ethernet are;

Ethernet (Green)
Network (Green)
ISP (RED) failed
Internet (RED) failed
Server (RED) failed.

Hopefully I explained that okay and thanks in advance for any help.
