Is there any program that checks you smart hard drive status, that does not slow down your computer at all?

I have noticed with the program: SMARTReporter, my first login of the day is always really slow.

I would be fine with one that runs in terminal too.

Well one more thing where do i add that text. I found the file crontab. But where in it does that line go? Sorry I don't know much about the underworkings of X.
