6th Gen Nano wake/sleep button jammed.

In the middle of my workout the other evening, my iPod switched itself off. When I tried to turn it back on, I found that the button had become jammed, so effectively the iPod is now unusable as I can't turn it back on.

I made an appt with a Genius, who informed me that the Nano is 73 days out of its warranty period, and basically there is nothing that can be done, as they don't perform repairs on this model. I suggested that one would expect such a costly device to last longer than just the 1 year warranty period, to which he suggested buying AppleCare next time.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do next. I'd like to avoid having to pay for a new iPod.
