I just read on blender.org (the home page for the free open source 3D modeling/animation program called Blender) that they are going to start a project to create a short animated film using open source tools exclusively (primarily Blender of course). Also, the created movie (and all the files used to create it) will be completely royalty free to use and distribute as you wish.
Spread the word! And help out if you can.
Also, someone needs to tell Apple that they should loan them some Power Macs and a rack of X-Serve cluster nodes...
