In my 10.7 about this mac, it shows my HDD 35GB smaller due to music. My iTunes can only account for 11GB of that, and I cant seem to find the other 24GB. any suggestions?

Use Finder to search for all music, then locate music not in your iTunes Media folder, as selected in iTunes > Preferences > Advanced. This assumes you haven't added music to iTunes from locations outside that folder. It's also possible you have added music to iTunes with the following lower box checked, but haven't deleted the original files after iTunes made a copy.
iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > organize & copy checkboxes.PNG
