I'm the developer behind Reddit Notifier. It's a little envelope that sits up in your menubar, just like on the Reddit website.

Normally, the envelope is black. But when you get a PM on Reddit, or when someone replies to one of your comments, the envelope turns orangered. Click on the envelope, and it will take you directly to your new mail.

Forgive what may be an idiot question. Am I understanding that Reddit with notify me if someone quotes me on MacRumors - as the "Quote Notification" does on the site?

If yes, another whiz-bang question: I'm a relative newbie to computers, purchasing, etc. - how do I use the promo codes that you provided in the Mac App Store - or how do I use them if I go directly to your site. I have never used a promo code.

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking with the first question but I'll do my best! This doesn't have anything to do with notifications for Mac Rumors, it's for messages you receive on http://www.reddit.com/ . The app won't do you much good if you don't have an account there

As for using a promo code, there should be a "Redeem" link on the right-hand side of the Mac App Store front page. Let me know if you can't find it.

Sorry I'm such a simpleton. You understood my foolish question perfectly and answered it. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know what Reddit is and, consequently, don't have an account with Reddit.

It is horrible when you don't provide enough information on the app description, or on their (garbage) website; and let people believe that this may be able to check other (e.g. gmail) accounts. I think they should have clearly written: CHECK YOUR REDDIT ACCOUNT).

I will give 4-5 stars if that was the case, this is a request to the program developer to work around and make a useful little application.
I am very frustrated.
