I will begin by apologising, firstly for my total lack of knowledge regarding phones and secondly repeating any questions that may have already been answered. I have searched this (and other) forum but do not understand enough about unlocking, activating, jail breaking, etc to make sense of what I need (or am able) to do.
So, having been naive enough to by a 'factory' unlocked iPhone 3GS I have found that it is not. To compound matters, when I plugged it into iTunes I was foolish enough to allow the update to iOS 5.0.1.
My question is this - can I activate and unlock the phone for use on any network (in my case Movistar in Spain)?
If so, can any kind soul please give me a step-by-step 'idiots guide' on how to achieve an unlocked and activated phone? I am not worried about the iOS version.
From the phone I have gleened the following: -
Version: 5.0.1 (9A405)
Model: MC637B
Modem: 05.16.05
