is it possible in Mail 2.0 (or whatever version ships with Tiger) to insert text as a hyperlink without just pasting in a url? you know, like this:

this a link to apple.com

i loved having this feature in netscape 4.5's mail...been requesting it from apple's os x feedback page since 10.1. 🙁

If you copy a link (like your over here) and make a new mail message you can past that into the message by Edit -> Paste as HTML (ctrl-cmd-V). Then the this a link to apple.com will be a link to http://www.apple.com/

Note that this only works if the message is in rich text format (not Plain text which I have as default, then the Paste as HTML choice is "grayed out"). You can toggle between rich/plain text by choosing Format -> Make Rich/Plain Text (shift-cmd-T).

ooh pretty slick. i can't test it as i'm still running panther here, but i'll keep this handy for when i upgrade to tiger. thanks!
